What is the Academic appointments committee?
At Chalmers, there is an Academic appointments committee responsible for recruitments and promotions of academic positions (senior lecturers, associate professors, professors, etc.). The committee includes representatives from administration, departments, and students. It ensures that those employed at Chalmers have the competencies required for the academic position they are applying for.
What do the student representatives do?
Student representatives participate in the entire recruitment process, from the job announcement to interviews and hiring. They ensure that candidates have the appropriate competencies, not only from a student perspective but also considering all aspects important in academia. This is done by:
- Participating in the interview process
- Providing opinions on candidates to members of the Academic appointments committee and department management
- Highlighting qualities that are important for Chalmers employees from a student perspective
